Small Groups & Bible Studies

Yearlong Bible Study Opportunities:

Disciple Bible Study:  Into the World, Into the Word*: A Study of Genesis and Exodus in the Old Testament and Luke and Acts in the New Testament (*This is a stand-alone study. You do not have to have taken Disciple 1).

This study proclaims the transforming power of Scripture while teaching Bible study skills that take participants deeper into the Scripture. The importance of keeping Bible study related to witness is reinforced while participants are encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines arising out of Scripture for the purpose of changing habits and transforming lives. The study also emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God, of being in the Word and in the world individually and corporately. This study understands the growing Christian as under discipline in community and in ministry to the world.

24-week study | Mondays, Beginning September 11 | 4:00-5:30pm in Hamill Court room A113 | Led by Jimmy Lawrence

Companions in Christ

Companions in Christ is a small group experience providing diverse, imaginative settings for learning spiritual practices that open one to God’s presence.  The group explores spiritual formation, the reading of Scripture, prayer, spiritual companionship, and vocation. Spiritual formation also comes through the richness of community sharing, as you explore common stories, questions, and experiences with other believers.

28- week study | Sundays, Beginning September 10 | 5:30-7:00pm in Hamill Court room A113 | Led by Christy Benitez and Kim Ford

The Prison Letters by N.T. Wright

N.T. Wright interprets the letters of Paul written while in prison facing possible death to the young churches in Ephesus, Philippi, and Colossae including a short letter to Philemon, a loyal Christian.  Wright intentionally translates these letters so that everyone can read and fully understand Paul’s intentions and faith. Each passage is followed by an anecdotal narrative and discussion.

Full Year Study | Tuesdays, Beginning September 12 | 10-11:15am in Hamill Court room A113  | Led by Murray Adams
